Josephine Caroline (Aiken) McGehee was born August 25, 1852 near Salado, Tx.
Funeral services will be held here tomorrow [February 15, 1941] morning for Mrs. J. H. McGehee, 88, of Ontario, Calif., formerly a resident of Floyd county where the family pioneered before the county was formed.
Rev. Elmer Crabtree, Olton Methodist pastor, is to officiate in services at 10 o’clock at the M. W. Lemons Funeral Home. The body will leave immediately after the services by rail for Ontario for burial probably Monday.
Mrs. McGehee died at 6 p.m. yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. L. S. Kennedy, at Olton where she was visiting. She came to visit her daughter eight months ago, intending to remain a year. She had been ill about two weeks.
Mrs. McGehee was born August 25, 1852 in Bell county. She moved with her family to Floyd county in the late 80’s, living at Lockney until 1919 when she moved to California. She had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood, her membership at present being at Ontario.
Survivors are the following children: William McGehee, Hereford; Mrs. Margaret Nichols, Ontario; Mrs. Kennedy, Olton; J. H. McGehee, Jr., Ontario, and Mrs. Myrtle Page, Los Angeles. Mrs. McGehee was the last survivor of a family of several brothers and sisters. Her husband died eight years ago. Interment will be beside his grave.
Mrs. Kennedy and Mrs. Nichols, daughters, will accompany the body to California.
The M. W. Lemons Funeral Home had charge of arrangements here.
