In June of 1908, James and Josephine McGehee were visiting their children’s families and friends near Lockney, TX. One night, after a family dinner gathering, the weather became very threatening so they decided to stay at Lloyd & Mag (McGehee) Nichols home because it was closer than where they had planned to stay. The weather was ominous.
